A three classroom block and the community centre facilities were commissioned by N_Naa Jama Kooro Kojo Pambo II, Chief of Jama who was the Chairman for the commissioning ceremony. The invited guest for the occasion included the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Bole, Hon. Jerry Yahaya Yakubu, Presiding Member of Bole District Assembly, Mr. James Jagar, Representative of Bole Director of Education, Mr. Samuel Anwaare, Circuit Supervisor of Bamboi, Mr. S.A Mantor,  Mr. Anthony Boye Osafo-Kissi (Representative of C.E.O of BPA) and BPA Environmental Officer, Mr. Wumbilla Salifu.

The Chairman, N_Naa Jama Kooro Pambo II cited all the  facilities (i.e. two hand pump boreholes, nursery block, community center, two KVIP toilet facilities, solar lighting system and block housing units) provided at Jama resettlement camp  and thanked BPA for the steps taken to improve the livelihood of the people. The Chairman also mentioned the resettlement grant of one hundred Ghana Cedis (GHc100.00) which was given to each member of the household and the land development grant of fifty Ghana Cedis (GHc50.00) which was given to heads of households to clear at least two acres of farmland at Jama. However, the Chairman indicated that the settlers had express worry at the delay in implementing the alternative livelihood support package. The Chief also used the occasion to thank Zoomlion for the spraying of the black flies and requested that the spraying exercise should continue for at least the next two years. The Chief pleaded with the Bole DCE to take steps to bring the school feeding program (Capitation Scheme) to Jama.

In a speech read on the behalf of Mr. Fred Oware; BPA acknowledges the sacrifice the people at Jama resettlement camp have made and cited the infrastructure provided as testimony of BPA's appreciation of this sacrifice by the people. The statement further  said that the nursery was meant to prepare the children for a bright future. In his closing statement, Mr. Fred Oware then urged all Ghanaians to support the ongoing Bui hydroelectric dam construction.

The Bole DCE assured the Chief of and people of Jama that the school feeding program will soon be extended to Jama. The Director of Bole Educational Service thanked BPA for putting up the nursery block and advised all parents in the camp to send their children to the nursery once they reach school going age. Pupils of Jama Primary School recited poems, performed a traditional Gbonjen dance and also did a drama performancer. The two major tribes at Jama resettlement camp also performed their traditional dance.          TO TOP
