The
Minister of Energy, Hon. Dr. Joe Oteng Adjei, has paid a working
visit to the Bui Hydroelectric Project to acquaint himself with
progress of work. He was conducted round by the CEO of Bui Power
Authority, Mr. Jabesh Amissah-Arthur, and the Deputy Executing
Project Manager, Liu Xiuping.
In his comments after the tour of the Project
Site, the Honorable Minister expressed satisfaction with the
progress of work.
Hon. Dr Oteng Adjei visited the affected communities and reassured
them of government’s commitment to secure their interest in the long
run. At Bui Village, where he met representatives of two
communities, Bui and Bator Akanyakrom, he applauded the people for
their selflessness in accepting, without incidents, to be moved from
their place of origin. He assured of a scholarship scheme for
brilliant children in the communities. He urged them to continue
dialogue with BPA to ensure smooth transition to their new
resettlement.
The Minister also visited the Jama Resettlement Community and was
impressed with the unity between both ‘resettlers’ and the host
community. He thanked the chief and people of Jama and Teselima for
their continuous benevolence to the resettled communities and called
for continuous show of solidarity. |
