The Environmental Officer of BPA explained that people at Jama resettlement are from four different villages and are composed of two major tribes that are Ewes and Dagartis and added that the two tribes are living harmoniously since intermarry and do a lot of things in common.
During an interview with an opinion leader, Mr. Astu Torgbaja, said that the people at Jama resettlement site have been paid one hundred and fifty Ghana Cedis (GHc150.00). This claim, in fact is erroneous and in reaction to the misinformation by Astu; the CEO of BPA explained that each member of the forty two household have received a resettlement grant of one hundred Ghana Cedis (GHc100.00). In addition, each head of household has received fifty Ghana Cedis (GHc50.00) as development grant to enable each household tilt at least two acres of farmland at Jama farmland. The CEO further explained that each head of household would be given a monthly allowance of one hundred Ghana Cedis (GHc100.00) for one year. However, part of the total annual allowance would be used to help the households start any alternative livelihood venture of their choice. The Faculty of Human Settlement, KNUST has already done research work at Jama resettlement camp and the resulting package will soon be implemented. The CEO directed the Environmental Officer to look at the issue of people who owned houses at Brewohodi village but are yet to be given housing units. TO TOP |
